CALL FOR PROPOSALS
for Workshops affiliated with CVPR 2003
Proposals are solicited for workshops to be held in conjunction
with the 2003 Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition Conference (CVPR 2003)
in Madison, Wisconsin, June 16-22, 2003. Proposals may be informal;
conciseness is a virtue.
Please send them by email (plain text OK) to Kim Boyer at Ohio State
(kim@ee.eng.ohio-state.edu) and include the following basic information:
Title
Organizers
Program Committee (may be tenative)
A few sentences of prior history, or a statement that this is the
first workshop on the topic.
Justification, motivation, etc.
Anticipated attendance (if history is available)
Number of days requested
Preference for prior to or following main conference (no guarantees)
Please note the following:
- We are emphasizing the WORK in workshops, and are looking for
novel ideas that get the attendees actively involved (beyond
presenting and listening to papers) and which could lead to a
carry-away benefit to the community. Examples include breakout
sessions that would produce one or more position papers on the
status and future research directions in the area, edited volumes,
special journal issues, and providing standard, or common, datasets
for comparative studies at the workshop and/or as a community
resource for future studies.
- The workshops proceedings will appear in CD form only; we won't
be printing paper proceedings. The conference blanket TMRF will
cover all the workshops, and the "passport" system will be used,
and so we can't afford to do paper proceedings -- especially not
for some workshops but not others. That's part of the reason we
are strongly encouraging edited volumes as a way of producing an
archival printed product, and those volumes can include things like
the position papers, or whatever else you collectively produce.
Proposals are due by September 30, 2002

CALL FOR PROPOSALS
for Short Courses affiliated with CVPR 2003
Proposals are solicited for 3-4 hour long Short Courses, to be
given June 16-17, 2003, as part of the events associated with the
2003 Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition Conference (CVPR 2003) in
Madison, Wisconsin. Appropriate subjects include topics from
computer vision as well as topics from related fields or application
areas. To propose a short course or to obtain more information,
please send e-mail to Bill Freeman, wtf@mit.edu
Deadline for proposals: September 30, 2002
