The Technical Committee on Computer Communications (TCCC)
of the IEEE Computer Society (CS) promotes activities, offers the information
exchange, and stimulates the growth of those systems that integrate
communications features with computer systems. While the focus on this
integration is laid on both wired and wireless communications (in terms of
protocols, applications, and interfaces), the system's view point addresses
layer 1 and 2 aspects (including energy savings and technology). The TCCC also
aims at fostering the spread and application of communication technologies in
various application domains, which have not been exploiting the full potential
of communication technology on a daily basis yet. Those include a.o. healthcare,
automotive, supply chain, and retailing applications.
The TCCC sponsors not only the traditional series of local
and metropolitan area networks, but it sponsors world-wide applicable
communication protocols and systems, all the way up to layer 4 plus dedicated
application support. On an annual basis, TCCC sponsors several conferences and
workshops, including its flagship conference, the IEEE Conference on Local
Computer Networks (LCN). In the past a number of different conferences and
workshops has been sponsored, such as the IEEE International Conference on
Network Protocols, the IEEE International Conference on Pervasive Computing and
Communications, and the IEEE Symposium on a World of Wireless, Mobile and
Multimedia. For upcoming conferences sponsored by the TCCC please refer to the
"Recent News" section below.
Question and comments about the committee can be directed
to Prof. Dr. Burkhard Stiller, CSG@IFI,
University of Zurich, Switzerland the current TCCC Chair.
Please take note of the fact that there is another TCCC
established, which is the IEEE ComSoc TCCC (Communications Society), accessible
