From the Desk of the Editor

Finally it is here! After the face-lift of our web-site, it took a while to put the pieces together and publish the first issue on the web. Thanks to Fred Douglis and Sumi Helal for the initiative and for suggestions. My personal thanks to the outgoing editor Steve Chapin. The web-site he left made the first part of my work smooth.

However, to keep the bulletin going and growing we will need you, both as a critic and contributor. Please feel free to contribute condensed vision papers or a survey or even a position statement on a burning issue. It can also be a book review, sweet or sour. If you have attended a conference feel free to contribute a paragraph or two digesting key events for those who missed it. We welcome your participation.

In this issue, Ramon Caceres (who was the program chair of WMCSA'99) is providing an excellent digest of the workshop authored by himself. It includes the synopsis of the discussions that followed the presentation, including panels. Check it out. I wish more conferences put out such wonderful synopses, specially when the web is there!

Also the announcements for our flagship conference SAINT 2001 is ready. Mark your calendar.
