Abstract

Vestel is one of the leading trademarks of Turkey's home appliance sector and international electronic manufacturer, today employing more than 1400 workers.

Vestel Group is comprised of 22 companies operating worldwide.

The current Vestel capacities are the largest in Europe and the third largest production capacity in the World. In the last year revenue was around 3.5 billion $.

This occasion is a nice place to describe Vestel online strategy which is based on possibility to deliver personalized information and entertainment in user home.

The strategy is based on online advertising and centralized billing system services.

Additionally, we shall present Vestel value chain in details starting from their early beginning. At this point the value chain is supporting distribution (content sales, legal services), hosting (portal, video storage, CDN, video formatting etc), advertising and regular TV sales.

It was not possible to achieve this chain without appropriate technology.

Vestel answer on this is Vestel smart TV concept. Smart TV key point is entertainment which is based on tight connection between Internet and mobile based devices. From user perspective, it opens a possibility to read latest news, participate on a social networking like Twitter or Facebook, watch online movies on TV set or on mobile devices like tablets or mobile phones.

In order to provide such experience to the user, we will present what is set behind of the Smart TV. The heart of the system is a Vestel PORTAL and its integration with various content providers.

Biography

Mr. İhsaner Alkim has graduated at the Istanbul Technical University (Department of Electronics and Communications Engineering). After serving in various positions in the electronics and communications sectors, he has joined the Vestel in 1988 and since then has been undertaking duties related to the R&D and similar operations.

Mr Alkim is a member of the Executive Commite and a CTO of the company.
