The International Conference on Web Services (ICWS) and The International Conference on Services Computing (SCC) are the flagship conferences sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society Technical Comittee on Services Computing (TC-SVC).  SCC concentrates on the science and technology of the foundations of Services Computing, Business/Application Services and the bridging technologies such as Business Strategy and Design, Business Process Integration and Management, Grid and Utility Computing, and SOA Services and Solutions; while the ICWS continues to put its focus on all aspects of Web services from Computer Science and Engineering perspectives.
 

One of the goals of TC-SVC is to make ICWS and SCC more popular and prestigious under IEEE umbrella. Another goal of the TC-SVC is to sponsor and encourage most of the existing conferences (e.g. ECOWS, APSCC) in the field of Services Computing to be held simultaneously under International Congress on Services (SERVICES) umbrella. 

Although ICWS (started in 2002 and held in 2003) and SCC (started in 2003 and held in 2004) are relative young, the average acceptance rate of the full research paper track for ICWS in the latest years  (2005-2007) is about 17%; the average acceptance rate of the full research track for SCC is about 19% (2004-2007).  The steering committees of the ICWS and SCC have set the target acceptance for ICWS and SCC is less than 20% for the future years.  Based on the very positive feedbacks from the IEEE Computer Society members and high quality of research papers, those two flagship conferences have been granted to organize special themes for the IEEE Transactions on Services Computing.
