IEEE ISEE May 2001

Guidelines for Student Technical Paper Contest

Purpose:
The IEEE ISEE 2001 Student Paper Contest is sponsored by the Electronics & the Environment Technical Committee of the IEEE Computer Society. It is being held this year to honor outstanding papers in the field of electronics and the environment written primarily by a student. The prize will be given to suitable recipients at the conference in Denver, Colorado. Up to five awards (first place, second place, and up to three honorable mentions) may be given upon recommendation of the selection committee. Cash awards and certificates will also be given to award winners.

Application Process:
The Electronics & the Environment Technical Committee of the IEEE Computer Society announces the IEEE ISEE 2001 Student Paper Competition for this year's best papers written by a student. There are five conditions for eligibility:
  • Only papers for which abstracts are accepted by the Program Committee will be eligible.
  • The entrant must be a student on or after January 1, 2001. The research must have been conducted while the entrant was a student.
  • The paper must present original research results.
  • The paper must be written by the entrant with only minor outside editorial assistance. One or more advisors may appear as co-authors of a paper, but the student must be the 'first author.'
  • The entrant and all co-authors must sign the attached form stating that the entrant is the primary author.

Entrants should submit six (6) "blind" copies of one paper with no names and affiliations comprised of no more than six pages using the standard IEEE publishing format as outlined at http://www.ieee.org/organizations/pubs/authors.html. These 6 blind copies are in addition to the two copies for the proceedings required by IEEE for publication in the proceedings. The entries must be accompanied by the attached form signed by the faculty advisor, the entrant, and all co-authors stating that the five eligibility conditions have been met. The papers will be judged by a blind review, so information about the author(s) and/or university should not be found on any page but the cover page. The cover page of the paper should include the entrant’s telephone number, fax number, e-mail address, and postal address.

These entries should be delivered no later than 5:00 pm, February 1, 2001 to the IEEE at the address given below. For complete entries (2 copies for the proceedings, 6 blind copies, application form completely filled in, and 5 conditions of eligibility met) received by the deadline, blind copies will be forwarded to the review panel.
